The Hanover Wild (22-8-0, 15-1-0 NHAHA) took down the Woodstock Jr Wasps (2-1-0) 5-3 at Union Arena.

The Wild started off slow giving up a goal early in the 1st period. However, Nathan St. Pierre finally helped the Wild beat the strong Wasp goaltender to tie the score up at one. Gregor Vogel and Will Brannen received assists on the play. The Wild then struck first in the 2nd period to gain a 2-1 lead on a goal from Vogel, with an assist to St. Pierre.

The Wasps struck back to tie the game at two late in the 2nd to send the game into the 3rd period knotted up at two. The Wild scored on the powerplay on an absolutely gorgeous play. Teddy Lyons made a great breakout pass to St. Pierre, who drove wide, finding Vogel in the middle, who one-touched the puck right back to him. St. Pierre fired a shot on net and Vogel drove the net to put home the rebound.

Just 15 seconds later St. Pierre scored again, unassisted. While the Wasps made it a 4-3 game late in the 3rd, St. Pierre completed his hat-trick on another breakaway after a great indirect pass from Vogel. Jackson Kapuscinski held strong in the Wild net, making the big saves when called upon.

The Wild look ahead to a couple weeks of practice before heading to the Rinks At Exeter for the State Tournament.
