The Hanover Wild (21-8-0, 15-1-0 NHAHA) fell to the Woodstock Jr Wasps (2-0-0) 2-0 in a great game at Campion Rink.
Without scoring threat Nathan St. Pierre, the Wild were shutout for the first time all season. Gregor Vogel, Carter Auch, and Will Brannen put on heavy pressure, only to be denied by an outstanding Wasp goaltender.
The story of the game was welcoming back Ben Ives to the lineup, allowing Coach Dodds to reassemble the deadly Hanover line with Archer Judd and Jake Reznek. Jackson Kapuscinski yet again made another "Save of The Year" candidate on a gorgeous save that saw him pushing off his right leg to get a toe on a the rebound opportunity.
Will Fichman and Teddy Lyons held strong on the blueline for the Wild, showing great improvement in gap control in just three days of intensive practice. Quinn Murnaghan played his best game of the season, leading the team on offense when asked to play forward, then seamlessly filling in for Auch on defense.
"Coach's can't be upset with a game like that." Dodds said after the game. "The shots were 37 to 11. They played hard for 44 and a half minutes, those 30 seconds just cost us. There were so many positives to take away from that game. A huge step in the right direction for our club."
The Wild look ahead to a rematch against the Wasps tomorrow at Union Arena for a 6:40pm puck drop.
