Will Fichman is a great defenseman for the Wild. He has a great ability to know when to be aggressive and when to sit back and play defense. Fichman is one of the smartest defenseman on the team. He tends to make the right play nearly every time. He knows when he has support and can pinch up the wall--and when he does pinch, he does it well--and he knows when he should stay back and let the play come to him.

His offensive ability surprised the coaches at first, but then became a weekly occurrence from Fichman. He is a threat at both ends of the ice and opposing teams hate it.

Defensively, Fichman is as steady as they come. He rarely plays the body, but when he does he does it will. Though he is not a physical defenseman, he makes up for it with his smarts and his positioning. He has a great poke check and does a fantastic job at picking up attackers in front of the net. He is one of the best passers on the team, making passes through spaces that the coaches swear a puck doesn't even fit through and right to the tape of his target.

The coaches hope to improve Fichman's backward skating and strength this season.
