The Hanover Wild (16-6-0, 12-1-0 NHAHA) defeated the Henniker Huskies (7-5-3 NHAHA) 5-3 at Campion Rink.

The Wild were short two players leaving them with eight skaters and a goalie. The motto in the locker room before the game was "Quick Start" to ensure they had breathing room if the legs got tired.

The Wild did just that, scoring 5 unanswered goals in the first period. The first goal came in the first 15 seconds as Gregor Vogel scored on a back door pass from Nathan St. Pierre. The next goal came two minutes later as St. Pierre put a nice move on a defender before beating the Husky goaltender high to the glove side.

The third goal came on a wrist shot from the point from Teddy Lyons through a screen, unassisted. St. Pierre tallied his second goal and third point of the night just a minute after Lyons' goal on a snipe that went off the post and in, unassisted. The fifth and final Wild goal saw St. Pierre complete his hat-trick on another unassisted goal on a backhand shot.

Solid defensive play from Will Fichman and Carter Auch kept the Huskies off the board, with Jackson Kapuscinski making big saves when the Wild needed him. Jake Reznek played another solid two-way game, filling in for pinching defensemen and creating plays offensively.

The Wild found themselves up three goals at the end of the 2nd period as they let their foot off the gas for a few minutes, leaving the door open for the Huskies to get back in the game. A third Husky goal made it interesting in the 3rd period, but the Wild held on to the 5-3 lead to earn the point up for grabs.

The Wild look ahead to a huge battle for 1st Place in the league when they take on the Manchester Flames (8-3-1 NHAHA) at Turner Arena.
