Carter Auch was selected as an Alternate Captain this season. He is a verbal leader that enjoys the spotlight. He is always the guy in the locker room trying to get his team ready to play and giving a speech around the net before games.
He is a great skater with great edge control, which makes him a very versatile player. Playing defense for most of the season, Auch was a shutdown defender. With his speed and willingness to play the body he proved to be a pain for any attacking player. His aggressive style helps shut down opposing attacks before they can get started.
Auch keeps his shots from the point low, giving his forwards a chance for tips and rebounds. He has a great ability to make a momentum changing play, whether it be a big hit, a great assist, or a goal. He is a quarterback on the powerplay, leading the breakout and getting the puck on his stick in the offensive zone to make a play. He is often asked to play a lot of minutes and never complains.
The coaches love his intensity, but hope to help Auch keep a more positive attitude in particular situations. The coaches also hope to improve his positional play and hockey sense this season.
