The Upper Valley Storm (2-2-0 NHAHA) defeated the Hanover Wild (3-2-0, 3-1-0 NHAHA) 8-3 at Barwood Arena.

The Wild had yet another slow start, getting outshot 7-1 in the first five minutes of the game. The Storm went up 2-0 early, but Jackson Kapuscinski kept the Storm from running up the score any further. The Wild started to pick up their play late in the 1st, but the sluggish start and penalties proved to hurt them.

The 2nd period followed the first, a slow start for the Wild found them down 4-0 just two minutes into the period. The Wild found their stride in the middle of the 2nd period after a goal by Nathan St. Pierre unassisted, his team-leading fifth of the season. Just minutes later St. Pierre took a leg check, drawing the major penalty and giving the Wild a chance to get back in the game.

The Wild answered the call, Archer Judd scoring a goal on the power play assisted by Will Fichman. Judd found himself in alone on the goaltender after a great lead pass by Fichman and buried it. Just minutes after that Gregor Vogel found the back of the net after a great pass from St. Pierre.

That was all the Wild could handle, however. After St. Pierre had to leave the game with a knee injury, the Wild were left with just three players on the bench and not enough energy to complete the comeback. Kapuscinski made all the saves he could to keep the Wild in it, the final score in favor of the Storm 8-3.

"It's tough to win games with 10 guys, we started with only 9 and ended up with 8." Dodds said. "We have a great team here and if we can be the best conditioned team in the state, there is no reason we shouldn't make a deep playoff run."

The Hanover Wild are back in action this afternoon when they welcome the Oyster River Cats (1-3-0 NHAHA) to Barwood Arena.
